Critically Endangered Crafts

I have a keen interest in history and craft history, which led me to the creation of a self-initiated project researching the ‘Heritage Crafts- Red List of Endangered Crafts’ and the small number of women in the UK who are practising these crafts. I chose to include the work of 10 of these women from across the country. This project taught me a lot about the importance of craft history, and I had the opportunity to interview many of the creatives mentioned in this publication and learn more about their practices first-hand.

Women and working class people who have traditionally been those practising crafts are often not recorded within history, so learning about craft history and keeping the craft alive is a brilliant way to memorialise the lives of these people.
